BC HIGHLIGHTS
-The Boston College men's track and field team headed to Rhode Island for the day to compete in the Ocean State Invitational, a meet hosted by both Brown University and Providence College.
-With all field events and running events under 800m being held in the day portion of the meet at Brown University, senior Devaun Bovell was first in action for the Eagles. Bovell cruised into the 110m hurdle finals with his time of 15.10, then returned to brave strong winds in the finals, going 15.12 and taking third place overall.
- The Eagles had a strong showing in the 400m in yet another meet this season. Senior Obinna Nwankwo won his heat and finished second place overall after crossing the line in 48.98. Senior Darren James posted a season-best time of 49.34, good for fourth overall on the day, while sophomore Matthew Morano went 49.95, the first sub-50-second 400m in his career, finishing sixth.
-Nwnakwo and James later joined senior Nicholas Nash in the 200m. Nash cracked the sub-23-second mark in the race for the first time in his career with his time of 21.94, also finishing second overall on the day. Nwankwo and James were third and fourth, respectively. Nwkankwo's time of 22.34 was a new personal best, while James' mark of 22.58 was a new season best.
- Freshman Avery McKenzie represented Boston College in the field events. In the long jump, McKenzie hit a season-best mark of 6.40m (21-0), placing fifth overall. Later, McKenzie was victorious in the triple jump as he grabbed another season-best distance with his leap of 14.41m (47-3.5).
- In the nightcap, hosted by Providence College, senior Michael Stephens raced in the 5K under the lights. Stephens earned a new personal best with his time of 15:09.77.
-Sophomore Benjamin Osipow wrapped up the meet for the Eagles, debuting in the 3000m steeplechase. Osipow finished in sixth place overall with a time of 9:50.70
