Anastos, Lonergan & Burt honored for play in March
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – A trio of Boston College women's hockey players earned the final Hockey East monthly awards for the 2016-17 season. The conference announced the March/April awards for both the men's and women's conferences on Wednesday.
Andie Anastos earned her second Warrior Player of the Month award of 2016-17 for her stand-out effort in March during the Eagles' run to the Frozen Four. She posted five points from three goals and two assists and finished the month with a plus-4 rating. Her team-best .167 shooting percentage included two game-winning goals in overtime – in the Hockey East Semifinals against Vermont in double overtime and against Northeastern in the Hockey East Championship in overtime – as well as a shorthanded tally in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Katie Burt grabbed her third straight Goaltender of the Month award, finishing a run that saw her take the honor in January, February and March. Burt went 3-1 in knockout tournament play, including backing the team to its second straight Hockey East Tournament title. She posted a 1.12 goals against average in March, including three games allowing one goal or less with a shutout against No. 6 St. Lawrence in the NCAA Quarterfinal. Her .959 save percentage included 35 saves in the national semifinal against No. 1 Wisconsin, one shy of her career high. This was Burt's eighth goaltender of the month award of her career.
Caitrin Lonergan picked up her third Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month Award. She had two points in four games, including a goal in the Hockey East Semifinals against Vermont, and an assist against St. Lawrence in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
The Eagles finished the season with a 28-6-4 record and advanced to the team's third straight Frozen Four. BC won its fourth straight Hockey East regular-season title with a 17-4-3 record and then claimed its second straight Hockey East Tournament crown. Boston College capped the year ranked No. 3 in the final polls.
