Savage Claims Defensive Player of the Week Award

Following a five-assist performance over the course of championship weekend, senior defenseman closes out his career as an Eagle winning Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Award
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Senior defenseman Scott Savage earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors after a stellar performance over the course of the Hockey East playoffs.
In the win over Boston University in the Hockey East semifinals, the San Clemente, Calif. native recorded his third-career playmaker (three assists in one game) and followed that with two more against UMass Lowell in the conference title game.
Savage closed out his career as an Eagle posting 29 points (5-24-29) and 71 points (10-61-71) in 154-career games in the maroon and gold.
The veteran defenseman earned some postseason hardware, claiming Hockey East Third Team All-Star credentials and was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament team following Saturday's game against UMass Lowell.
Hockey East's other Player of the Week is UMass Lowell's C.J. Wilson while teammate Tyler Wall claimed Rookie of the Week honors alongside Savage.
The Eagles finished the 2016-17 season with a 21-15-4 mark and a 13-6-3 record in Hockey East play and claimed a share of the regular-season championship.
