Cangelosi, Cortez Named Eagles of the Week

Pair honored for performances last week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Seniors Austin Cangelosi (men's hockey) and Tatiana Cortez (softball) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.
Cangelosi earned Co-Hockey East Player of the Week honors after his sound performance to help No. 3-seed Boston College to a two-game sweep over No. 6 Vermont in the Hockey East Tournament. He scored eight seconds into regulation to set the tone against Vermont on Friday night. Cangelosi followed that on Saturday night with a pair of power play goals in the second period along with an assist to cap off his four-point weekend.

Cortez earned ACC Player of the Week honors after hitting .500 with three home runs, 14 RBI and a 1.167 slugging percentage as Boston College went 3-2 last week. She set the program record for career RBI and tied the team records for career home runs and RBI. Cortez recorded seven RBI on Wednesday against Penn, tying the BC single-game record.

Men's hockey (20-14-4) faces Boston University on Friday night at 8 p.m. at TD Garden in the semifinals of the Hockey East Tournament. Softball (15-11, 2-1 ACC) will play a three-game series at Pitt this weekend.
