BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Kelly Hughes had 14 first half points and scored her 1,500 career point on a three-pointer in the second quarter. Hughes finished the game with a season-high 24 points, matched her career-high with seven made three-pointers, added five assists with zero turnovers in 36 minutes of play.
- Freshman Taylor Ortlepp notched career-highs in points scored (19), three's made (5) field goal attempts (11) and made (6) as she played 30 minutes in the win.
- Rookie Emma Guy had 11 points and 10 rebounds – her first this season. Fellow freshman Georgia Pineau had just eight points but grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.
- Senior Emilee Daley pitched in with nine points as she shot 3-for-5 from the three-point arc.
- The Eagles broke the single game program record for most three's made with 15. The prior record was 14, which was accomplished twice – the last time on Dec. 15, 2013 against UNH.
- The 88 points and 29 field goals made are season-highs for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles finished the first quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 25-11 lead. Kelly Hughes had 11 points as she shot 4-for-5 from the floor, three being three's.
- Boston College extended the run to 19-0 before UNC woke up after a Jamie Cherry three-pointer at 7:35 in the second quarter.
- Taylor Ortlepp opened the third quarter with three straight three-pointers followed by one from Hughes as BC held a 53-37 lead with 6:51 to play. The three's kept coming and BC held a 72-52 lead after three quarters behind 9-for-9 shooting from the three-point line (Hughes (2), Ortlepp (4) and Daley (3)).
- A 13-2 run by UNC cut the BC lead to nine points with 5:25 to play in the game. BC went cold as the Fasoula hit a layup and foul shot but turnovers continued to hurt the Eagles. After Paris Kea hit a layup with 453 to play, the lead was down to right points the Eagles responded with two key foul shots by Emma Guy followed by one from Hughes.
- Carolina came down and missed two three-point attempts followed by Ortlepp's final three with 3:01 to play and the lead was 14 points. Hughes hit the final three with 1:53 to play and BC was on the way to an ACC road win.
