Former Eagle gets 56th cap
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Former Boston College standout Alejandro Bedoya earned the start for the United States Men's National Team in its international friendly against Serbia on January 29 at Qualcomm Stadium.
Bedoya, who earned his 56th cap for the USMNT, started at right wing. The match ended in a scoreless draw as the USA took 12 shots to Serbia's eight. The contest was Bruce Arena's first in his second tenure as head coach.
Bedoya currently plays for the Philadelphia Union alongside former Eagle Charlie Davies.
Bedoya was a star on the pitch for the Eagles during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He was a two-time All-American and was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2007. He led the 2007 Eagle squad to the ACC regular season and tournament championships, and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Bedoya was also named to the All-ACC First Team in both seasons.
