Borr defeats No. 107 Knutson
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's tennis team defeated Syracuse, 5-2, in an ACC match Sunday afternoon at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
The Eagles (6-4, 1-1 ACC) won four singles matches and the doubles point. BC has won its last three and five of its last six contests.
"We played well today," said BC head coach Nigel Bentley. "Syracuse is a tough opponent, and our girls were very focused and ready from the first point in doubles. In singles, we were down early in many of the matches, but each player stayed calm, kept believing in themselves and found a way."
Seniors Lexi Borr and Emily Safron and junior Asiya Dair each went 2-0 on Sunday, winning their singles and doubles matches.
Borr defeated Syracuse's (2-6, 0-2 ACC) Gabriela Knutson, the nation's 107th-ranked player, in second singles. Knutson won the first set, but Borr rallied back for the 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 victory.
The Eagles will next visit No. 41 Notre Dame on Friday at 4 p.m.
