Cortez Goes Yard in Loss to Hofstra

BC HIGHLIGHTS

Senior Tatiana Cortez hit a home run in the top of the seventh, her team-leading fourth of the season.
Senior Jordan Weed allowed no earned runs in four innings. She has only allowed one earned run in her last 12 innings pitched and holds a 1.75 ERA this season.
Sophomore Kendra Friedt recorded two shutout innings, striking out four, walking none and only allowing one hit.
The Eagles have surrendered four or fewer runs in their last five games.

TURNING POINT
Hofstra loaded the bases in the bottom of the third. Weed struck out the next batter. However, Brittany Allocca reached on an error, which cleared the bases to give Hofstra a 3-0 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the fourth inning, Hofstra's Courtney Scarpato singled, Brielle Pietrafesa walked and Megan Patierno reached on an error to set up Alloca's three-run play.
Friedt entered the game in the beginning of the fifth and threw two scoreless innings.
Cortez hit a home run to left field in the top of the seventh, closing Hofstra's lead to 3-1.
Junior Chloe Dubocq drew a two-out walk in the seventh to put the tying run at the plate for BC.
However, Hofstra pitcher Sarah Cornell recorded the final out to clinch Hofstra's victory.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will play six games at the ESPN Citrus Classic from Thursday, March 2 to Sunday, March 5 in Orlando. BC will first face Kansas on Thursday at 5 p.m.
