
Sweep in Singles Play Sparks Win Against UMass

Dair wins fourth straight first-singles contest
AMHERST, Mass. – The Boston College women's tennis team defeated UMass, 6-1, in Saturday's nonconference road contest.
The Eagles (4-4) won all six singles matches. The Minutemen (4-3) took the doubles point, ending BC's streak of six straight doubles-point victories.
Junior Asiya Dair earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory in first singles. Dair has won her last four and five of her last six first-singles matches.
Senior Lexi Borr (6-4, 6-0) and freshman Kylie Wilcox (7-5, 6-1) earned victories to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead. Then freshman Dasha Possokhova earned a hard-fought 6-7 (6), 7-6 (4), 6-3 win in third singles.
BC completed the victory with two straight-set wins. Sophomore Jackie Urbinati won 6-2, 6-1 in fifth singles. Freshman Elene Tsokilauri earned a 6-4, 6-2 win in sixth singles.
The Eagles next return home to face Boston University on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Dedham Health and Fitness Center.
