Belinskas Scores 15th as Friars top Eagles
February 18, 2017 | Women's Hockey
Eagles fall on the road as Friars get first win against BC in 16 tries
PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College women's hockey team scored two first-period goals and went on to claim a 4-1 win over sixth-ranked Boston College at Schneider Arena on Saturday afternoon.
BC clawed back within one behind Delaney Belinskas' second-period power-play goal at 4:35, but Providence re-claimed the two-goal lead at 13:58.
The Eagles thought they had again cut the lead to one 6:21 into the third, but Kristyn Capizzano's apparent rebound goal was overturned by the officials after video review.
PC's Kathleen McHugh scored her second of the game less than three minutes later to stake the Friars to a three-goal lead that was the eventual winning margin.
Boston College out-shot Providence 33-22. PC goaltender Madison Myers made 32 saves to back the Friars' win, while Katie Burt made 18 saves.

Providence 4, No. 6 Boston College 1
Saturday, February 18, 2017
Schneider Arena | Providence, R.I.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st, 00:54 | 0-1, PC GOAL – The Friars created a turnover near center ice and pushed the puck up into the Eagles' end. Kathleen McHugh's shot was turned aside by Katie Burt and Christina Putigna picked it up behind the net. She attempted to center the puck from the edge of the crease, but her pass deflected in off a BC defender's skate in front and past Burt.
- 1st, 14:31 | 0-2, PC GOAL – The Friars beat the Eagles' pressure down low and Brooke Boquist's centering pass from the left side of goal found McHugh alone on the doorstep. She shoveled it up and in under the crossbar. The referees reviewed the goal, but the call on the ice stood and the Friars pushed the lead to 2-0.
- 2nd, 4:35 | 1-2, BC GOAL (PPG) – In the game's first power play for either team, Megan Keller tracked down a cleared puck back behind the Eagles' goal and fed Delaney Belinskas inside the BC blue line. The freshman cut through center ice along the far side, curled around a defender on the other side of the Providence blue line, creating room for her to get off a wrist shot that beat Madison Myers through her five-hole.
- 2nd, 13:58 | 1-3, PC GOAL – Arianna Reid created a turnover just outside the BC blue line and Cassidy MacPherson picked up the loose puck. She skated into the BC end and cut inside and as a PC player collided with Burt – leveling her and defenseman Kate Annese in the process – MacPherson had an open net to shoot. Despite Burt being taken out of the play before the shot, the goal was not reviewed.
- 3rd, 6:21 | BC GOAL WAVED OFF – After Kali Flanagan's blast from the left point was deflected in traffic and Kristyn Capizzano got to the rebound and pushed it past Myers to seemingly pull the Eagles within one. However, the referees reviewed the goal and waved it off after view review.
- 3rd, 8:57 | 1-4, PC GOAL - Putigna skated the puck up and out of her defensive zone, pushing it off the boards and around a defender as Boquist came into the zone. Boquist played a quick centering pass as McHugh cut inside from the right circle, meeting the puck just off the crease where she got a quick backhand off that beat Burt.
