Pair honored for performances last week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior Jordan Chimento (softball) and senior Kelly Hughes (women's basketball) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Chimento batted .533 (8-for-15) in four games last weekend as Boston College went 3-1. She also homered twice and drove in seven runs. She recorded a slugging percentage of .933 and an on-base percentage of .533. Chimento went 4-for-5 in the season-opening win against Houston and hit a home run in each of the final two games of the weekend.

Hughes scored 24 points in a road win at North Carolina, going 8-for-12 from the field and 7-for-10 from 3-point range. Those seven 3-pointers matched a career high. She also added seven rebounds and five assists. Hughes became the seventh player in program history to surpass the 1,500-point mark.

Softball (3-1) will play six games in Arizona this weekend. Women's basketball (9-17, 2-11 ACC) will host NC State on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
