WAKEFIELD, Mass. –Freshman forward Christopher Grando has been named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Month after a stellar November.
The Islip, N.Y. native finished November with eight points, accruing three goals and five assists with a +8 plus/minus rating. Two of Grando's tallies counted as game-winning goals while one of which was a short-handed marker.
Grando turned in a breakout performance in a sweep at Vermont on Nov. 10-11. The freshman winger registered his first-career multi-point performance with two assists in a 4-3 win at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Nov. 10 and followed it with a two-goal, one-assist showing in a 5-1 blowout of UVM on Nov. 11.
The rookie is tied for third in scoring on the Eagles' roster, having accounted for 11 points (5-6-11) in 17 games as an Eagle. He is second on the team with a +7 plus/minus rating.
Grando's 0.65 points per game ties him for 36th, nationally, amongst all rookies and tied for seventh amongst Hockey East freshman.
This marks Grando's second conference award of the season as he was named the Hockey East Player of the Week on Nov. 13 for his laurels at Vermont.
Grando joins the Hockey East Player of the Month Erik Foley (Providence) and Hockey East Goaltender of the Month Christoffer Hernberg (UMass Lowell) as November's award winners.
Boston College will return to Kelley Rink for one last contest before shutting it down for a couple weeks. The Eagles will continue their run against Beanpot opponents when they close out the regular-season series at home against Northeastern on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.
