
Eagles Soar at the Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, MASS. – The Eagles competed in the Terrier Invitational on November 17th through November 19th in Boston, Mass. The Eagles performed strong in the meet hosted by Boston University, racing against seven other collegiate teams. The men finished in second place overall and the women placed third. Fifteen Eagles contributed 25 points or more, three school records were broken and four all-time best relay splits were earned. Additionally, the Eagles had 52 performances that ranked in the top ten all-time best.
TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
WOMEN
- Erika Freeman placed second in the 200 IMÂ earning a personal best time of 2:05.44. Freeman's time ranks 2nd all-time in program history.
- Victoria Lin (23.82) and Ali Kea (23.96) turned in personal best times in the 50 free; their times rank 4th and 5th all-time best in program history.
- The women's 200 Medley Relay (Taylor Covington, Kea, Maura Grimes, Lin) placed first and broke the school record with a time of 1:43.73. Lin and Kea turned in the fastest splits in school history for 50 fly and 50 free.
- Natalie Dalla Riva finished second in the 400 IM (4:28.24) and 200 Backstroke (2:02.95). Dalla Riva's 200 backstroke time is now 2nd all-time in program history.
- Lin was the top female point scorer for the Eagles with 54 individual points. She finished fifth in the 50 Freestyle and swept the Butterfly events. Lin's 100 Butterfly (55.57) time broke the school record previously held since 2004.
- Maura Grimes (56.42) and Katherine Karle (57.58) earned lifetime best times in the 100 backstroke. These times now rank second and third all-time in program history.
- Ellie Uhl placed second in the 3 m diving with a score of 241.20.
MEN
- Taylor Cortens placed first (1:47.81) and Kevin McCoy placed second (1:50.38) in the 200 IM
- Colin Derdeyn placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.84.
- Cortens finished first (3:54.47) and Kevin McCoy (3:59.17) placed third in the 400 IM.
- Cortens placed second (49.22) and Dan Creighton (49.72) placed fourth in the 100 backstroke. Their times rank first and second all-time in program history.
- Cortens was the top point scorer for the men with 77 points. He totaled three first place finishes (200 IM, 400 IM, 200 breast) and broke a school record in the 100 backstroke.
- Robert McCrory placed second in the 3 M Diving with a score 248.10.
- Charlie Kleinsmith finished first (55.77) and Billy Miller (56.65) placed third in the 100 breaststroke, ranking second and fourth in all-time program history.
