Eagles Fall To No. 16 Florida State, 3-0

The Boston College women's soccer team fell to No. 16th ranked Florida State, 3-0, on Thursday night in an ACC match at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee, Florida.
Boston College dropped to 8-5-1 and 2-3-1 in the ACC, while the Seminoles are now 9-2 and 5-1 in the conference.
At the half Boston College had six corner kicks but could not capitalize on the opportunities. Florida State took advantage of a trip in the box which resulted in a penalty kick in the 14th minute of the match. FSU's Gloriana Villalobos converted to give the Seminoles a 1-0 lead. FSU went up 2-0 at the half on a late goal by Emily Madril.
Florida State extended the lead to 3-0 on a goal in the 64th minute by Dallas Dorosy.
The Eagles held a 10-5 edge in corner kicks for the game. Florida State had seven shots on goal, while BC had three.

GOAL: FSU 1, BC 0; 14th minute: Florida State was awarded a penalty kick on a tripping call in the box. FSU Gloriana Villalobos took the penalty kick and converted to give the Seminoles a 1-0 lead.
14th min – BC sophomore Olivia Vaughn's shot from 23-yards was punched out by FSU's goalkeeper Cassie Miller. Off the corner kick, Jenna Bike shot sailed high over the crossbar.
GOAL: FSU 2, BC 0; 43rd minute: Rookie Caroline McGovern tipped in a shot from Frederique Haverhals to tie the game at 1-1. It was the first-year forwards third goal of the season.
44th minute: Junior Carly Leipzig countered after the FSU goal. The forwards shot from 22-yards out sailed high over the goal.
GOAL: FSU 3, BC 0; 64th minute: Dallas Dorosy scored her fourth goal of the season off a loose ball in the box.
68th minute: Freshman Sam Coffey (four shots) shot from 19 yards out that Miller fumbled the ball out past the end line for a BC corner kick. The Eagles corner kick attempt was cleared by the Florida State defense.

- Boston College rookies Sam Coffey, Gianna Mitchell and Jillian Jennings started for the Eagles. Junior transfer Elysa Virella started her 13th game of the season. Coffey and Mitchell have started every game, while Jennings has seven starts.
- The Eagles have not given up more than one goal since the 3-1 loss to William and Mary on August 20.
- BC continues to lead the conference in corner kicks. Tonight the Eagles had 10 corners, six in the first half. FSU had five in the game.
- Junior Alexis Bryant had three saves as did her FSU counterpart Cassie Miller.
