Second-place finish clinches berth.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College sailing team participated in three different competitions over the past weekend, wrapping up its penultimate weekend of regular-season races.
Â
At the Urn Trophy hosted by Harvard, the Boston College women soundly sailed to a second-place finish behind Yale. Windy conditions on Sunday made racing difficult for the Eagles, but the team hung on to take the silver. The second-place finish propelled the Eagles into qualification for the Atlantic Coast Championships to be held at the end of the fall slate of racing.
Â
Elsewhere, Boston College participated in the Schell Trophy, hosted by MIT. Difficult racing conditions were difficult to overcome for the Eagles, and the team wrapped up in the middle of the scoreboard, taking ninth place overall. Additionally, the Eagles took an 18th-place overall finish in the Tufts-hosted Nickerson Trophy.
Â
Next week, Boston College will race in a series of regattas, but one highlight will be in the ISCA Singlehanded National Championship in St. Petersburg, Fla., where freshman Sophia Reineke and sophomore Scott Rasmussen will race.
