Eagles’ freshman led the nation in scoring last week with nine points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College freshman Daryl Watts earned Hockey Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday after standout performances in three games last week.
In the women's hockey team's 2-0-1 week, Watts led the nation in scoring with nine points (three goals, six assists).
On Tuesday against Quinnipiac, she factored in all four of BC's goals in the team's 4-2 win, scoring a goal and collecting three assists.
On Friday at UConn, she scored the game-tying goal in the second period as BC played to a 2-2 tie in Storrs.
On Sunday at Vermont, Watts again factored in all four of Boston College's goals, scoring the go-ahead goal in the third period and assisting on all three of Caitrin Lonergan's goals in the 4-2 road win.
She has scored at least one point in each of the team's five games this season, and has registered four multiple-point games.
Watts is currently tied for the national scoring lead (14 points) despite playing fewer games than anyone else with 14 points. Her 2.80 points per game are also most in the country by any player who's played more than one game, while her 1.20 goals per game are tied for third nationally and her 1.60 assists per game are second most in the country by players who have played more than one game.
This is Watts' second Hockey East weekly honor of her career after earning Player of the Week honors after her collegiate debut in early October.
Boston College (4-0-1) returns to the ice on Saturday, Oct. 28, when the team heads down Commonwealth Ave., to face Boston University in the #BattleOfCommAve. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m., at Walter Brown Arena.
