Eagles Win Warren Smith Trophy

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's and women's sailing teams were back in action this past weekend, racing in four different regattas across New England.

The best performance on the weekend for the Eagles came in the George Warren Smith Trophy, hosted by MIT. On Saturday, the Eagles got out to a strong lead, and managed to hang on for the first-place finish over Roger Williams University, edging out the victory with a five-point margin.

In the other local race, the Regis Bowl, hosted by Boston University, Boston College wrapped up the weekend in ninth place overall.

Up in New Hampshire at the Hewitt Trophy hosted by Dartmouth, the Eagles raced on Lake Mascoma. There, the Eagles took sixth place overall, after posting their best performance in the C division.

Finally, Boston College cracked into the top five at the Danmark Trophy, hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy. With 233 points, Boston College finished in fifth place overall, just one point behind the fourth-place finisher, Stanford. A total of 36 points divided the first-place finishers, College of Charleston, with the fifth-place Eagles.

Boston College will not be racing next weekend, but will be back in competition the weekend of October 14th.
