NEWTON, MASS. – The Boston College women's soccer team lost to No. 3/5 North Carolina, 4-1, in front 951 fans at the Newton Soccer Field on Saturday night.
Boston College is now 9-6-1 and 3-3-1 in the ACC, while North Carolina is now 11-2 and remains undefeated in the conference at 7-0-0.
North Carolina struck early as Alessia Russo on a long ball from 25 yards out in the third minute of play. The Tar Heels went up 2-0 in the ninth minute on a goal by Bridgette Andrzejewski off a header from four yards out. With three minutes remaining in the first half, UNC went up 3-0 on a goal by Jessie Scarpa. Andrzehewsji extended the lead with her second goal of the night as she beat a BC defender to the ball in the box in the 77th minute of play.
BC junior Carly Leipzig got the Eagles on the board in the 83rd minute of play on her second goal in the last two games.

GOAL: UNC 1, BC 0 – 3rd min.: Alessia Russo shot from 25-yards out went right under the cross bar for a 1-0 UNC lead.
GOAL: UNC 2, BC 0 - 9 min.: Bridgette Andrzejewski scored off a corner kick. Julia Ashley was far post and headed the ball into the middle of the box. Abby Elinsky headed it toward the far post where Andrzejewski headed it to the back of the goal for a 2-0 UNC lead.
GOAL: UNC 3, BC 0 – 42 min.: Jessie Scarpa shot from 22 yards out sailed high and looped in over the outstretched arm of BC goalkeeper Alexis Bryant.
GOAL: UNC 4, BC 0 – 77 min.: Andrzejewski one-timed a cross from Dorian Bailey from the right of BC goalkeeper Alexis Bryant.
GOAL: BC 1, UNC 4 – 83 min.: Carly Leipzig scored off a long ball punched out by the UNC goalkeeper. Coffey sent a long ball in the box that was punched out. Leipzig settled the rebound and took a shot from 25 yards out to the near post for the Eagles lone goal.

- Despite the 3-0 deficit, BC had some great chances in the first half. Junior Carly Leipzig shot from 18 yards out to the right of UNC goal, was saved by goalkeeper Samantha Leshnak in the 16th minute of the match. With a little over a minute, freshman Sam Coffey had a chance off a bouncing ball in the box. Coffey did not get a good shot off but the ball was cleared off the goal line by Lotte Wubben-Moy to keep the Tar Heels up 3-0.
- In the second half, Boston College had a number of chances to get on the board but just could not convert. Jenna Bike had an early chance on a long ball from Elysa Virella. The UNC goalkeeper Leshnak beat Bike to the ball for the clear. Freshman Gianna Mitchell had a header off a corner which sailed high over the crossbar.
- BC's Carly Leipzig started and played 80 minutes. She scored in the 83rd minute, giving her two goals in the last two games. It was her fourth goal of the season.
- Sophomore Olivia Vaughn and freshman Sam Coffey had three shots each in the game for the Eagles. Leipzig had two as did freshman Gianna Mitchell.
- Boston College had seven shots in the second half and three corner kicks.
