Gwinn finished second at the New England Championships
Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Senior Ashbrook Gwinn of the Boston College women's cross country team has been named ACC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week for the week for Oct. 11 for her performance at the New England Championships. Gwinn shares the honor this week with Florida State runner Militsa Mircheva.
Gwinn finished in second place at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 7 with a 5K time of 17:55.8. She helped lead the Eagles to a second place overall finish at the meet and she averaged 5:39.0 per mile. She was one of only two runners in a field of 194 to break 18 minutes on the Franklin Park course. Gwinn finished behind meet winner and USTFCCCA National Division I Women's Athlete of the Week Heather MacLean of UMass Amherst.
The Ridge Spring, S.C. native has been a top place finisher consistently for the Eagles this season. At the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Sept. 22, Gwinn was the first BC runner to cross the line and the 16th finisher overall among 188 runners. She raced the 5K in 17:35.
Since 2012, BC has now had 10 ACC Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week. The last Eagle to earn the honor was senior Isabelle Kennedy who won for her performance on the week of Sept. 13, 2016.
Gwinn looks to lead the Eagles to another strong performance at NCAA Pre-Nationals in Louisville, KY. on Saturday, Oct. 14.
