Senior forward scored four of the Eagles’ five goals last week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior forward Kristyn Capizzano earned Hockey East Warrior co-Player of the Week honors on Monday after standout performances in the Eagles' two games last week. She shared the award with Northeastern's McKenna Brand.
The Oakville, Ontario, product scored four of the Eagles' five goals in a pair of contests last week, as BC went 1-0-1 in the team's return to action after the winter break. She led all Hockey East players in goals and was second in points behind Brand's five in three games.
On Wednesday, Capizzano registered her first career hat trick in BC's 4-3 win over Syracuse. After the Eagles fell behind 2-0, Capizzano scored twice to bring the team back even. After Kenzie Kent's go-ahead goal, Capizzano completed the hat trick with her 10th goal of the season, which proved to the game-winning goal.
On Saturday, Capizzano again came through when the Eagles were behind, this time netting the game-tying goal in the third period as BC played to a 1-1 tie with Boston University. It was her 11th goal of the season, matching her previous single-season best through just 20 games.
On the season, Capizzano has 16 points from 11 goals and five assists. Her 11 goals rank second on the team, while her eight Hockey East goals are tied for sixth in the conference.
This is Capizzano's first-ever Hockey East weekly award and the Eagles' ninth weekly award this season.
Sixth-ranked Boston College (13-3-4, 10-2-2 HEA) returns to the ice tomorrow against Harvard in a non-conference Frozen Fenway meeting at Fenway Park. Faceoff is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on bceagles.com. The Eagles enter the game riding an eight-game undefeated streak (6-0-2).
