Zeiko Lewis Drafted In First Round By New York Red Bulls

Becomes third first-round pick in BC history
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Former Boston College midfielder Zeiko Lewis was selected by the New York Red Bulls with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, held today at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Lewis becomes the third Eagle to be taken in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft which originated in 2000. Kyle Bekker (third overall) and Charlie Rugg (19th overall) were both taken in the first round of the 2013 SuperDraft. Paul Keegan was the sixth overall pick in the 1996 MLS College Draft.
"He is a very good wing player," Sasho Cirovski said on the broadcast. "He can be very effective in the Red Bulls system. He was a handful (in the ACC) and he is a seasoned college player."
Lewis earned All-ACC accolades in all four seasons he played at Boston College. He earned All-ACC First Team honors as a senior and was a three-time second team member. He also won ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2013.
The Pembroke, Bermuda, product finished his career as the all-time assist leader at Boston College with 27. He also ranks sixth in career points (63) and 10th in goals (18).
