Kenzie Kent and Sam Apuzzo find themselves among list of preseason honors.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Two returning members of the Boston College's lacrosse team earned Preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse. The list of honors was released in the publication's 2017 Face-Off Yearbook. Junior Kenzie Kent was named to the third team, while sophomore Sam Apuzzo earned a spot on the honorable mentions list.
Kent, also a member of the women's ice hockey team, appeared in the final 10 games of the season after returning from the ice. During that span, Kent tallied a total 35 points, including 18 goals. She was an IWLCA All-Region first team selection and earned All-ACC second team honors.
In her rookie campaign, Apuzzo started the first nine games of the season before sustaining an injury that kept her out the remainder of the year. Tallying 21 goals, including a hat trick in her collegiate debut, Apuzzo earned Inside Lacrosse Rookie of the Week (March 22), Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America third team, as well as Lacrosse Magazine's Midseason Outstanding Rookie Award.
Boston College lacrosse was also selected No. 17 in the Face-Off Yearbook's preseason Top 20 after the team advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth straight season.
The Eagles will open their season Saturday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m., when they head Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross.
