Eagles Compete at Connecticut State Championships

The men's tennis team added an event to their schedule last weekend, sending a contingent of Eagles to the Connecticut State Championships, hosted by Yale in New Haven, Conn.

Freshman Derek Austin led the pack, going a combined 5-2 in singles and doubles while advancing the to the semifinals of the A Singles bracket. In the B Singles bracket, freshman Nicolas deQuesada advanced to the semifinals. Additionally, the doubles tandem of Austin and Mullins advanced through to the quarterfinals of the lone doubles bracket.

Freshman Sean Mullins and junior Kent Mukai each won their opening match in the A Singles bracket before falling in the Round of 16 and winning a consolation bracket match.

The Eagle return to the court Oct. 20, when a group of players competes in the ITA Northeast Regional event in Philadelphia.
