Eagles Picked to Finish Sixth in Hockey East

Boston College looks to return to the Frozen Four this year after a co-league title in 2015-16

BOSTON – Boston College has been ranked sixth in the Hockey East preseason poll as voted on by the league coaches and announced at the conference's annual media da at TD Garden on Tuesday morning, Sept. 27. The Eagles received 91 overall votes.
Boston University was tabbed first, while Northeastern and Notre Dame tied for second. The Terriers garnered 130 overall points and 10 first-place votes. The Huskies collected 108 overall votes and one of the first-place votes while Notre Dame also counted for 108 votes, while UMass Lowell (105) and Providence (98 votes) rounded out the top five picks, in that order. Connecticut (63 points), Vermont (57 points), Merrimack (53 points), New Hampshire (49 points), Massachusetts (32 points), and Maine (30 points) finished off the 2016-17 Hockey East coaches' preseason poll.
Boston College concluded the 2015-16 season with its seventh-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, tied for longest streak in all of college hockey. The Eagles finished with a 28-8-5 record and a 15-2-5 mark in Hockey East play. The Eagles tied for first in the league with Providence to cap the conference slate last year.
Boston College hopes to return to the Frozen Four, which will be held in Chicago, Ill., this season at United Center. Twelve letterwinners return from last year's 28-win club and will link up with 13 newcomers in 2016-17.
Hockey East has also announced its TV schedule for 2016-17, and the Eagles will be broadcasted on the American Sports Network (ASN) four times. Starting with the first home conference tilt of the season against Providence on Friday, Oct. 28, followed by a clash with crosstown rival Boston University, when the Terriers head to The Heights on Monday, Jan. 16. The following televised contests will be on Friday, Feb.10 against Merrimack, and the final game of the regular season on Friday, Feb. 24 at UMass Lowell.
You will also be able to catch the Eagles on TV when BC takes on defending national champion North Dakota in the College Hockey Showdown at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Dec. 3, which will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
Additionally, the 65th annual Beanpot Tournament will be televised on the New England Sports Network (NESN), starting with the Eagles first round clash against Boston University on Monday, Feb. 6. The championship and consolation game will be the following Monday, Feb. 13.
BC's preseason begins with a Sunday afternoon exhibition against Carleton University on Sunday, Oct. 2, at the newly opened Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton. Puck drop is slated for 2:30 p.m.
Boston College's 95th hockey season will open on the road when the Eagles travel to Denver University for a Friday night contest with Air Force on Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. The weekend opening weekend will finish with a matchup against either Denver or Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 8.
