Boston College shutout its fifth opponent in nine games as the Eagles cruised to a 2-0 blanking of Long Island University on Wednesday afternoon at Newton Soccer Field. BC outshout the Blackbirds, 31-3.

TURNING POINT
Veteran Hayley Dowd netted her fourth goal of the season in the seventh minute of the contests as Boston College limited the Blackbirds to only two shots in the first half. The Eagles never looked back, possessing the ball the majority of the contest.
Senior Andrea O'Brien added her second tally of the season in the 77th minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior McKenzie Meehan generated the opening strike with a cross from the left side of LIU's box. The ball careened through the middle where second-year midfielder Gaby Carreiro gathered and deferred to an unattested Dowd. With no one in front, Dowd converted the one-timer pass, bating LIU's Aline Allmann at 6:26 of the first half.
- Boston College continued to dominate the first half, outtriggering Long Island, 16-2, in the opening 45 minutes.
- Dowd recorded her third point of the night by getting the ball into box from outwide. It bounced around a bit after an attempt by redshirt junior midfielder Lauren Berman in tight on Allmann. The ball bounced out to O'Briend and the senior put it past the far left post for the 2-0 lead.
- The Eagles continued to keep their opponent off the board as LIU mustered only one shot on net in the second half. BC posted 15 attempts on net.
GAME NOTES
