MIKE SAGAY
Position: Forward
Height: 6-7
Weight: 200
Hometown: Bloomfield, Conn.
High School: St. Thomas More School
Basketball Bio
Ranked as the fifth-best prospect in Connecticut and the 14th-best prospect in New England by New England Recruiting Report … named All-NEPSAC Second Team as a junior at Watkinson School … played AAU for Game Elite.
On why he chose Boston College…
"First of all, it was close to home. It's a great academic school and it is in the ACC. It's a team that's rebuilding so I know I'll be able to come in and help out. I didn't like the idea of sitting and waiting as a freshman so I took the opportunity to come here and play right away."
On his expectations for summer workouts…
"I thought they would be hard. I knew I would have to make a transition from high school to college but I knew I'd be ready for it with my prep school experience."
On how St. Thomas More prepared him for basketball at this level…
"In the NEPSAC, you play against a great team every night. You don't blow teams out in that league; you can win by 10 points at the most. Our team was really good so we got better through practice."
On how the summer workouts have gone…
"They're tough but I adjusted to them. I've been here since May."
On his biggest strengths on the court…
"Transition is my biggest strength. Athleticism. I like to play in the open court."
One word to describe yourself on the court…
"Versatile."
One word to describe yourself off the court…
"High character."
On what he is most looking forward to this year…
"The season. We lost a lot of games last year. I know I wasn't a part of that but I feel it just as much as these guys. I want to win just as bad as they do."
