Former BC stars pepper the second-year league’s rosters
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Ten alumnae of the Boston College women's hockey program have signed contracts to play in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) during the 2016-17 season.
The league's annual free agency period came to an end on July 31, with a flurry of signings – including five former Eagles - on the final day of the signing period.
The Connecticut Whale leads the way with five former BC players, including three 2016 graduates: Kaliya Johnson, Haley Skarupa and Dana Trivigno. The Boston Pride has two 2016 alums – Lexi Bender and Alex Carpenter – as part of the four-Eagle contingent. Emily Pfalzer is the only BC player on the Buffalo Beauts. There are currently no former BC players signed to the league's fourth team, the New York Riveters.
