
Naumec Wins Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament

Sophomore Matt Naumec won the 49th Annual Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament at Woodland Golf Club last week. The tournament ran from July 27-29 at three different courses. The first two rounds were played at Hayannisport Club and Oyster Harbors Club before finishing the final round at the 6,721 yard Woodland Golf Club, Francis Ouimet's home course.
Naumec, a native of Wilbraham, Mass., needed a 20-foot downhill birdie putt which led to a three-shot victory. Naumec finished with a one-over par 73 and a six-under 209 total in the prestigious 54-hole amateur invitational event played at three different courses.
Earlier in the summer, Naumec placed 20th at the New England Amateur Championship and was named an All-New England honoree.
