WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Rising sophomore Matthew Naumec finished tied for 20th in the 87th New England Amateur Championship last week at the Hartford Golf Club.
Naumec finished the tournament at +4 (68-74-69-73—284) which was 11 strokes behind the winner at -7.
The Wilbraham, Mass., product opened the tournament with a first round -2 (68). He had two birdies and bogeys on the front nine and then birdied twice on the back. After a second-round +4 (74), Naumec went under par again by shooting -1 (69). He had five birdies in the third round which were the most for him in the tournament. He shot a final-round +3 (73) to finish the tournament at +4.
Naumec recorded 15 birdies and 40 pars in the tournament and shot -7 on the par 5s.
