
Meet the 2016-17 Eagles: Julius Mattila

Boston College will usher in a class of 13 new Eagles this season, the largest under head coach Jerry York - Mattila will be one of seven forwards coming in this season
Julius Mattila joins classmate Mike Booth, five other forwards, four defensemen and a pair of goaltenders as part of head coach Jerry York's 2016-17 incoming class for the fall.
Mattila will skate to The Heights all the way from Tampere, Finland, but will do so alongside his brother, Jesper, who will be a defenseman on this year's club.
The 6-foot-0 centerman tallied 56 points, including 21 goals and 35 assists, in 46 games played for the Ilves U-20 club that played in the Jr. A SM-liiga. Mattila helped lead that team to the U-20 Championship in his Finnish junior league and was voted a second-team all-star in his league. The 170-pound Fin also tallied three goals and recorded five assists on U-20 Ilves' quest for a league title.
During the 2015-16 season, Mattila logged 13 power play goals, which was the most in the league.
Mattila also helped Team Finland to the silver medal in 2014-15 as part of the U-18 World Junior Championship.
The left-handed forwarded is currently ranked No. 115 by NHL Central Scouting of all European players.
