Sailing Placed Fourth in The Gill Coed National Championship

Results
The final day of the Gill Coed National Championships in sailing came to an exciting conclusion on Friday in San Diego, California.

Boston College entered the final day 20 points behind day-one leaders Yale University. In light wind conditions, a see-saw battle amongst the top four teams ensued. The Eagles posted seven consecutive top ten finishes in the final races to cut the overall lead to just seven points behind new leader Georgetown. It also put BC in a three-way tie for second with Yale and Coast Guard going into the final race of the regatta. Coast Guard went on to win the final race, while Georgetown was able to stay within five points to take the overall win. BC finished 14th in the final race and fourth overall.

The Eagles tandem of Raul Rios and Allyson Ferraris placed second in Division A racing with 127 points to 119 points from Yale. In the B Division, Charlie Sinks and Katherine Downey placed seventh with 148 points.

Senior Raul Rios, who was BC's Eagle of the Year, was named one of three finalists for College Sailor of the Year.

After the two weeks of racing, the Eagles placed 13th in the women's national championship, fourth in the team race championship with a 17-8 record and fourth in the coed competition.
