Ten Earn Spots on All-Academic Team

Eagles honored for their work in the classroom during record-setting season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Ten members of the Boston College women's hockey team earned places on the Hockey East All-Academic Team for the Eagles' record-setting 2015-16 season, which was announced Thursday by the conference.
A record 126 student-athletes earned a spot on the league's All-Academic Team, which is composed of players posting a 3.0 or better grade point average during all academic periods in which she was competing.
The Eagles who earned all-academic honors include: Andie Anastos, Lexi Bender, Meghan Grieves, Megan Keller, Haley McLean, Kathleen McNamara, Serena Sommerfield, Tori Sullivan, Gabri Switaj and Dana Trivigno.
Bender, who graduated in May with a degree in economics and environmental geosciences, was one of 15 student-athletes who earned Distinguished Scholar accolades after placing on the All-Academic Team each of her four seasons of competition. Grieves and McLean are three-time honorees, while Anastos, Sullivan, Switaj and Trivigno are two-time performers.
Additionally, Keller and Trivigno garnered All-Academic Team honors while also balancing extensive time second semester with the U.S. National Team, in addition to Boston College's schedule.
The Eagles, who wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a 40-1-0 record, finished the year with their best-ever final ranking of No. 2 in both the U.S. College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. The team's 40 wins were the second-most in a season in NCAA history. In 2016-17, the Eagles are set to return 17 players from this year's team and will add seven freshmen to the roster.
