Trio Named To All-ACC Academic Team

Three Boston College women's lacrosse athletes were named to the2016 All-ACC Academic Women's Lacrosse Team, as announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford. Seniors Molly Erdle, Sarah Mannelly and Caroline Margolis were all honored by the ACC for their academic achievements.

All eight of the league's women's lacrosse programs are represented on the All-ACC Academic Team, led by Syracuse with seven selections. Duke and North Carolina each placed six on the team, Notre Dame had five and Louisville had four, while Boston College and Virginia each had three, and Virginia Tech one.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Erdle, a senior captain, started 19 games on defense for the Eagles. She had team-highs in ground balls (39) and caused turnovers (36). A native of Lone Tree, Colorado, Erdle was an IWLCA All-Northeast Regional second team honoree and was a three-time Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement. She graduated in May with a degree from the Carroll School of Management.

Mannelly, a midfielder, served as a captain as a junior and senior. A native of New Canaan, Conn., Mannelly started 19 games and led the team in points (74), assists (36) and draw controls 935). Â She was an All-ACC first team honoree and an IWLCA All-Northeast Regional first team selection. Mannelly, who was a nominee for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, graduated in May with a degree in communications.
Â
Margolis, a senior captain, started all 19 games for the Eagles at midfielder. She tallied 30 goals, 17 assists for 47 points. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Margolis finished her career with the sixth most assists in program history (55). Margolis was named to the Tewaaraton Award Preseason Watch List and was awarded a 2016 ACC Postgraduate Scholarship. She arned a degree from the Carroll School of Management in May.
