Bedoya Named To United States Copa America Roster

Tournament starts June 3
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Former Boston College men's soccer standout Alejandro Bedoya has been named to the U.S. Men's National Team roster for the 2016 Copa America Centenario, announced by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
Bedoya has been a mainstay on the USMNT roster in the last three years. He has made 32 appearances (45 in his career) for the National Team since 2013 and played in all four matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, starting three. He was also a finalist for the 2014 U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year award. Bedoya currently plays for FC Nantes in France's Ligue 1.
The United States will open the tournament against Colombia on June 3 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Four days later, they face Costa Rica in Chicago at Soldier Field. The U.S. completes Group A play against Paraguay on June 11 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. All of the matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.
Bedoya was a star on the pitch for the Eagles during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He was a two-time All-American and was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2007. He led the 2007 Eagle squad to the ACC regular season and tournament championships, and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Bedoya was also named to the All-ACC First Team in both seasons.
