Eight Eagles called into U.S. National Team Camp

Eagles’ contingent – full of past and present players – will travel to Colorado Springs for a five-day off-ice camp
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Eight Boston College women's hockey players – including five members of the 2015-16 squad – have been invited to USA Hockey's Women's National Team off-ice training camp next month. The five-day camp will be held June 1-5 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Colo., and will focus on strength and conditioning, nutrition and mental skills.
Katie Burt, Alex Carpenter, Megan Keller, Emily Pfalzer '15, Haley Skarupa, Kelli Stack '11, Allie Thunstrom '10 and Dana Trivigno were among the 29 players invited to the camp. Burt, Carpenter, Keller, Skarupa and Trivigno were all members of the Eagles' record-setting 2015-16 team.

Last season, Burt ranked third in the nation – and first in Hockey East – in goals against average (1.23). She was third nationally in shutouts (13) and fourth in save percentage (.943), both of which led the conference. Burt's 35 wins – as part of a 35-1-0 record – led the nation, as did her .972 winning percentage.
In 2015-16, Carpenter led the nation in scoring with a program-record 88 points. She also paced the country with a program-record 45 assists and also added 43 goals, second-most in the nation. Carpenter was the runner-up for the Patty Kazmaier Award one year after winning it in 2015. She was also a first-team All-American and claimed her fourth first-team Hockey East All-Star honor. Carpenter graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer (278 points) and is first in career goals (133) and career assists (145).
Keller also claimed first-team All-America honors and was a top 10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award. While anchoring the Eagles' defense that was ranked third nationally, she also collected 52 points (12 goals, 40 assists) – the program's single-season record among defensemen. She was tied for ninth nationally in scoring and third nationally in assists, while leading all defensemen in scoring in the country.
Pfalzer, who graduated in 2015 the program's career scoring leader among defenseman with 102 points, just wrapped up her first professional season in the NWHL. She captained her hometown Buffalo Beats to a championship game appearance in their first season of play. Pfalzer recorded 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists) in 17 games with Buffalo and was the fifth-leading scorer among defensemen. She also captained one of the teams at the NWHL All-Star Game.
Skarupa wrapped up her senior season last year establishing more career highs. With 79 points, she ranked third nationally, and was second nationally in assists (44) and third in goals (35). Skarupa was a Patty Kazmaier Award Top 10 finalist, and garnered second-team All-America honors and a first-team Hockey East All-Star nod. She graduated as the program's second-leading career scorer with 244 points (115 goals, 129 assists).
Stack finished her first season in the NWHL last year, playing for the Connecticut Whale and earning all-star honors. She was third in the league in scoring with 22 points and third in assists with 14 in 17 games. Stack is a two-time Olympian, earning silver medals in 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi. She graduated in 2011 as the program's career scoring leader (209 points), and was a three-time Hockey East Player of the Year.
Thunstrom returns to the national-team fold after helping the U.S. win the 2015 Five Nations Cup after a four-year absence from the player pool. She's made eight appearances with the national team – all at the Four Nations Cup (2010, 2015), scoring one goal. In 141 career games at BC, Thunstrom recorded 139 career points from 86 goals and 53 assists. She has most recently been playing with the Minnesota Whitecaps.
Trivigno completed her collegiate career tied for sixth in career scoring (138 points), eighth in career goals (57) and sixth in career assists (81). She posted career numbers in 2015-16, scoring 47 points from 17 goals and 30 assists – all career highs. Trivigno also claimed Beanpot MVP honors as a senior, scoring four points in the Eagles' sixth championship – including a hat trick in the final against No. 6 Northeastern.
The Eagles, who wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a 40-1-0 record, finished the year with their best-ever final ranking of No. 2 in both the U.S. College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. The team's 40 wins were the second-most in a season in NCAA history.
In 2016-17, the Eagles are set to return 17 players from this year's team and will add seven freshmen to the roster.
