Captains Westphal, Winslow Race in Elite Payton Jordan Stanford Invite

PALO ALTO, Calif. – On Sunday night, two members of the Boston College Women's Track and Field Team raced in the 5K at the Payton Jordan Invitational alongside both fellow collegiate athletes as well as professionals. Senior captains Liv Westphal and Danielle Winslow both had exceptional performances among tough competition.

Racing in the first heat of the 5K, Winslow started off fast, staying at the top of the pack with the leaders of the race. Through the mile, Winslow remained with the leaders, before slightly falling off to the second pack at the 3K mark. She wrapped up her 5K in 16:31.64.

On the other hand, Westphal found herself in a heat with just one other collegiate competitor. AS a result, she too was in a heat that went out at a quick pace. Driven by the speed of her competitors, Westphal posted a 5K time of 15:56.38. This time earned her fourth place overall among collegiate athletes.

Both athletes received great experience from the meet, racing against heavy competition. The championship season for the Eagles begins in two weeks at the ACC Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., from May 13-15.
