A fourth place finish and three fifth place finishes highlight BC's performance at Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, Mass. - Boston College women's rowing won gold in the Varsity Four "C" event and bronze in the Third Varsity Eight to highlight the squad's performance in the Grand Finals of the Women's Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond Sunday.

Boston College finished fourth as a team, netting 83 total points on the day. They trailed only Harvard/Radcliffe (124), Northeastern (100) and Dartmouth (96) in Sunday's standings.

The Eagles also earned a fourth place finish in the Grand Final of the 2V4 while they placed fifth in the Grand Final of the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four, respectively.

For the maroon and gold's top-finisher, the Varsity Four "C" boat placed first in the Grand Final with a time of 8:27.278, ahead of the second place boat from Northeastern (8:43.300) and Dartmouth (9:06.257), who rounded out the top three.

In the Third Varsity Eight race, BC finished third with a time of 7:39.468, behind only Harvard/Radcliffe (7:23.008) and (7:27.986). They beat out Rutgers, the Harvard/Radcliffe 4V8 and Dartmouth in the Grand Final.

The Eagles placed fourth in the Second Varsity Four with a time of 8:37.968, behind the likes of Harvard/Radcliffe, Columbia and Bucknell in the Grand Final event.

The Varsity Eight placed fifth with a time of 7:25.755 while the Second Varsity Eight's fifth place finish came with a time of 7:33.429. The Varsity Four placed fifth, ahead of Drexel, with a time of 8:14.788 to round out the team performance.

Sunday's regatta was the last go-around for Boston College before the ACC Championships, held on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina. The heats will be held on May 13, beginning at 6 pm and the finals will take place the following day, beginning at 8 am. The finals will be broadcast on ESPN3.
