
Eagles Win Irving-Christensen Cup Over Holy Cross, Connecticut

BC women's rowing continues to find success, sweeping Sunday's events on Lake Quinsigamond
WORCESTER, Mass. -Â Boston College women's rowing competed for the second time in as many days, taking on the likes of Holy Cross and Connecticut Sunday morning on the Lake Quinsigamond course in Worcester, Mass. where the Eagles swept all five events.
The Boston College Varsity Eight boat of Anna Tenzinger, Makenzy Brown, Caroline Henry, Grace Grunau, Catherine Goldberg, Megan Carney, Caitlin Yaccarino, Michaela Jaffe and Madison Cann placed first to capture the Irving-Christensen Cup, a trophy the team will proudly keep on The Heights for the next year.Â
In the Third Varsity Eight event, the maroon and gold took first with a time of 7:06.43, ahead of Connecticut, the only other school who competed in the 3V8 and who had finished with a time of 7:10.34.Â
The Eagles Second Varsity Four and Third Varsity Four, both competing in the 2V4 event, placed first and second, respectively. The first BC boat finished with a time of 7:21.78, while the second BC boat placed 6.6 seconds later, crossing the finish line with a time of 7:28.38. Both placed ahead of Connecticut, whose 7:36.07 finish time rounded out the top three.
The Varsity Four saw the Eagles place first with a time of 7:32.69 ahead of UConn (7:47.23) and Holy Cross (7:59.08) while in the Second Varsity Eight, BC placed first with a time of 6:49.46, a statement victory over the second place boat from Connecticut, whose finish of 7:13.16 was more than 23 seconds differential.
The official time for the Eagles Varsity Eight squad was not immediately available.Â
After an off week ahead, Boston College will return to action for the Eastern Sprints, also in Worcester, for what will be team's final tuneup before the ACC Championships on May 13 and 14 on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina.Â
