CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore outfielder Scott Braren (baseball) and sophomore Molly McCabe (track & field) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Braren knocked a bases-loaded, two-out single to right field to score the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning to give Boston College a 5-4 victory over defending national champion Virginia on Sunday. Braren was 2-for-3 in the game, coming on in the 10th inning as a pinch hitter. Down by three, he singled in the 10th to help the Eagles load the bases and set up a bases-clearing double to tie the game. BC won a series over No. 16 Virginia for the first time in program history.
McCabe picked up a pair of wins last weekend at the Mark T. Young Invitational at Yale. She won the 400m dash with a time of 57.63 which was her second best time of the outdoor season. She then ran the first leg for the 4x400m relay team that won with a time of 3:56.70.
Baseball (16-11, 5-8 ACC) will host UMass on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the first round of the Beanpot, and has away games at Harvard (Tuesday) and Notre Dame (Friday-Sunday) this weekend. Women's track & field will compete in the Friar Invitational on Friday and the Brown Invitational on Saturday.
