Boston College freshman center Mariella Fasoula was named to the 2015-16 All-ACC Freshman team today as released by the conference office this morning and voted on by the conference coaches.
Fasoula is the first BC freshman since 2012-13 when Nicole Boudreau earned the honor. Fasoula is the fourth rookie to be named to the All-ACC Freshman team since the Eagles joined the ACC in 2005. She was also named to the Blue Ribbon Panel All-Freshman team last week.
A native of Athens, Greece, Fasoula was the Eagles second leading scorer (13.5 ppg.) and was 14th in the ACC in scoring. She shot 55 percent from the floor, which was fourth in the ACC and 25th in the nation at the end of the regular season.
Against ACC teams, Fasoula averaged a team-high 15.3 points per game and shot 53 percent from the floor. She also averaged 5.3 rebounds and shot 74 percent from the foul line.
Fasoula led the Eagles in scoring in 13 games, and notched double-digits in 22 games. She scored a season-high 23 points in the win over Purdue and against Georgia Tech on the road.
