Eagles fall in first of two-game road swing this weekend
RALEIGH, N.C. – The Boston College men's tennis team was upended by No. 34 NC State on Friday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
After the Wolfpack claimed the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3, they swept the six singles matches to take the 7-0 win.
NC State's ranked pair at No. 1 and No. 2 singles claimed straight-set wins. No. 77 Nick Horton topped Aidan McNulty 6-1, 6-1, while No. 85 Thomas Weigel defeated Jeffrey Melvin 6-0, 6-1. The Wolfpack also took straight-set wins on the No. 5 and 6 courts.
Hank Workman pushed the second set to a tie-break at No. 3 singles, but fell 7-4 in the decisive set, while Alexandre Thirouin pushed Ivan Saveljic to three sets before falling in a third-set tie-break, 7-5.
BC returns to the court tomorrow, Saturday, March 26, when the Eagles head to Charlottesville, Va., to face No. 2 Virginia at 1 p.m.
