Eagles Draw Familiar Foe in NCAA Regional

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College earned an at-large bid into the 2016 NCAA Tournament and will play Harvard on Friday, March 25, at 8 p.m. (EST) at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. The Eagles will be the No. 2 seed in the Northeast regional.
Friday's game, which will mark the 124th meeting all-time against the No. 3-seeded Crimson, will be broadcast live on ESPNU in high definition and will be streamed online and available on all WatchESPN platforms. ESPN's John Buccigross and Barry Melrose will be on the call.
No. 1-seeded Providence and No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth will join the Eagles and Crimson at the DCU Center and will square off at 4:30 p.m. (EST) prior to the BC - Harvard contest.
Harvard is making its 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament and second-straight after playing in the Midwest Regional last season. It marks Harvard's fourth NCAA Tournament game in Worcester for the Crimson and first since 2003 when it met Boston University in the first round.
In all, the Crimson finished 19-10-4 and finished third in the ECAC behind Quinnipiac and Yale.
Boston College and Harvard have met 41 times in the Beanpot Tournament, but never in the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson will be the 31st different opponent the Eagles have faced in the NCAA Tournament.
Dating back to the last 19 seasons, Boston College has earned a spot in the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament every season except 2002 and 2009, including seven-consecutive trips to the postseason.
The Eagles are 47-41, all-time, in NCAA Tournament play and a 34-12 mark under head coach Jerry York. York has led his clubs to 23 NCAA Tournament berths, including six at Bowling Green and 17 at Boston College. York is 39-22-1, all-time, in NCAA play while his 39 tournament triumphs are the most in college hockey history.
At the DCU Center
Boston College returns to the DCU Center for NCAA regional action for the eighth time and first since 2013-14.
The Eagles are 12-1 at the DCU Center during that span, earning playoff victories over Maine (2001), Mercyhurst (2005), Miami (2006), Boston University (2006), Minnesota (2008), Miami (2008), Alaska-Fairbanks (2010), Yale (2010), Air Force (2012), Minnesota-Duluth (2012), Denver (2014) and UMass Lowell (2014)
BC's lone loss at the DCU Center came against North Dakota in 2005.
All four national titles under York (2001, 2008, 2010 and 2012) started with regional play in Worcester, Mass.

ESPN will cover the entire 2016 NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Championship which includes 12 regional games from four sites between March 25-27 and the Frozen Four semifinals and finals in Tampa on April 7 and 9.
