Eagles’ forward led the nation in scoring last week with six points in pair of BC wins
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior forward Alex Carpenter drew her eighth Warrior Hockey East player of the week nod this season from the conference on Monday, following a week in which she led the nation in scoring with six points in a pair of Eagles wins.
In the process of tallying six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in the team's two victories, Carpenter also collected her 131st career assist, more than any other hockey player in Boston College history – male or female – passing Hobey Baker winner Mike Mottau '00 (130). Additionally, she claimed the Eagles' career power-play goal record outright, notching her 25th career strike on the man-advantage on Saturday to move past Kelli Stack '11 (24).
In BC's first game last week, Carpenter scored two goals in the Eagles' 8-0 victory over Harvard in the first round of the Beanpot. Saturday, she collected a four-point game in a 5-4 win at UConn, tallying two goals and adding two assists.
This is Carpenter's eighth player of the week nod this season, and the 17th of her career.
The No. 1 Eagles (29-0-0, 20-0-0 HEA) return to action Tuesday, Feb. 9, when BC faces No. 5 Northeastern (25-4-1, 19-2-0 HEA) in the championship game of the 2016 Beanpot Tournament. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Boston University's Walter Brown Arena.
