This is the fourth time Thousands Oaks, Calif. native has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College senior Katty Workman was one of 31 athletes to be named to the ACC All-Academic Volleyball Team, as announced by the conference on Monday. It is the fourth straight year that the Thousand Oaks, Calif. native was a recipient for one of the most prestigious academic awards given to student athletes.
Workman, a double-major in Marketing and English, met the requirements of the All-Academic Team by maintaining a 3.0 cumulative average during her entire academic undergraduate career while also retaining that 3.0 grade point average during the previous semester. She is one of only two recipients to have received this award in each of her four years of playing volleyball.
Head volleyball coach Chris Campbell said of Workman, "This award is recognition of the regular level of the exceptional performance – in the classroom and on the court – which Katty has demonstrated throughout her time at BC. I have no doubt that the high personal standards she so clearly set at BC will also be evident in her life and career moving forward."
An outside hitter for the Eagles, Workman leaves Boston College as one of the most decorated players in program history. A two-time captain, she finished her senior season at the top of the Boston College record book in all-time kills (1689), kills per set (3.77), attack attempts (4591), points (1816.0) and career double-doubles (51). She was named to the All-ACC Second Team following the 2015 campaign while helping her team to their most wins since the 2009 season.
Each of the 15 ACC schools had at least one player recognized on the All-ACC Academic Team, with Louisville leading with five recipients. The full release and the list of players named to the All-ACC Academic Team can be found in the release.
