- Nicole Boudreau scored a season-high 26 points, while Kelly Hughes chipped in with 17 points and 10 rebounds but it was not enough as the Eagles fell to North Carolina, 86-78, on Sunday at Conte Forum. Hillary Summers had 23 points and nine boards while Jamie Cherry had 21, including 13-of-16 from the foul line for the Tar Heels.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Nicole Boudreau tied the program record as she hit eight three's in the game and finished with 26 points along with eight assists. The eight three's tied a program record of most three's made in a game.
- Junior Kelly Hughes scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double of the season.
- Rookie center Mariella Fasoula chipped in with 14 points and nine boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- North Carolina came out hot hitting its first three shots of the game. BC took a 13-10 lead behind two three's from Nicole Boudreau. The two teams continued to exchange hoops. Carolina shot 61 percent from the floor in the quarter to take a 22-18 lead after one quarter.
- A 5-0 run behind Nicole Boudreua's fourth three of the game gave the Eagles a 27-22 lead at 7:16. UNC called a timeout as the Eagles offense came alive.
- Hughes and Boudreau combined for three straight three's to give BC a 39-28 lead with 4:18 to play. Jamie Cherry stopped the bleeding with a three as UNC went scoreless for three minutes. Carolina applied a press which led to two freebies from Kailey Edwards which pushed the Eagles lead to, 42-33, with 1:41 to play.
- An 8-4 run by BC to open the quarter was sparked by a five fast break points - BC 50, UNC 40. After the timeout, UNC scored five straight points, but a Boudreau three halted the short run by the Tar Heels. Eight straight points by UNC tied the game with 2:14 to play, 55-55. The Tar Heels took a lead on two foul shots by Cherry with 2:06 to play. Boudreau's eighth three of the game stopped the UNC run. A layup by Kailey Edwards gave BC a 62-58 lead after three quarters.
- North Carolina came out and put 18 points on the board in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter while BC responded with four turnovers and five points. BC was down by seven points – 75-68.
- The closest BC could get was four points after a three-pointer by Emilee Daley with 34 seconds to play.

She now has 244, nine away from breaking the all-time record which is held by Kerri Shields (252).
