About The Game
- Boston College fell to No. 2/3 Notre Dame, 70-58, at Purcell Pavilion on the campus of Notre Dame. The Eagles are now 14-15 on the season, while the Irish improved to 28-1 and 16-0 in the conference.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Kelly Hughes led BC with 16 points while sophomore Marti Mosetti and freshman Mariella Fasoula each chipped in with 10 points apiece.
- Sophomore Katie Quandt finished with nine points and three rebounds off the bench.
- Senior Nicole Boudreau finished with just two points but had five boards and five assists.
- Notre Dame opened up on a 12-2 run just four minutes into the game. Turnovers continue to plague the Eagles as they had seven in the first quarter. Notre Dame held a 25-12 lead after one quarter after shooting 83 percent from the floor.
- In the first half of the second quarter, BC cut back on turnovers and cut into the lead on a three by Kelly Hughes. Lindsay Allen came back with a drive to the hoop and BC was down, 32-18 with 4:39 to play. BC made a run and cut the lead to 10 points but an 8-0 run, six points from Arike Ogunbowale pushed the lead to, 40-22. Notre Dame ended the half on a 10-2 run for a 42-24 lead at the break. BC had 10 turnovers and shot just 38 percent from the floor. Notre Dame shot 73 percent and had 15 points off turnovers.
- The Eagles cut the Notre Dame lead to 12 points with under seven minutes left in the third quarter behind a jumper from Martina Mosetti and two freebies from Hughes. Ogunbowale sparked another Notre Dame run to extend the lead to 19 points as she scored seven of nine points. Turner extended the lead as she scored four consecutive points and Notre Dame held a 55-35 lead after three.
- In the final quarter, Hughes hit two consecutive three's to give BC momentum but Madison Cable hit a reverse to push the lead to 18 points. BC battled back and a jumper by senior Nicole Boudreau cut the lead to 14 points but that was the closest the Eagles would get.
