BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman right-hander Jacob Stevens went six innings and struck out six, allowing just four hits, three walks and one unearned run. He retired the first seven batters he faced and 11 of the first 12.
- Sophomore Donovan Casey extended his career-long hit streak to 11 games, tied for 11th in BC record books (dating back to 2005).
- Freshman Gian Martellini tallied two of the Eagles' three RBIs on a 2-for-4 day.
- Seniors Joe Cronin and Gabriel Hernandez both crossed the plate twice on 1-for-2 days with two walks and a stolen base apiece.

The Eagles took advantage of Chicago State errors and scored five in the fourth, breaking a scoreless tie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles broke the scoreless tie in the fourth, notching five runs and taking advantage of two Chicago State errors. Cronin drew a walk, stole second and Martellini laced the full-count pitch to left center to plate Cronin as he was off on the pitch. Senior Logan Hoggarth grounded to short but the ball rolled under Julian Russell's glove, allowing Martellini and Hoggarth to move to second and third. Hernandez walked to load the bases and with two down, junior Michael Strem flied to right center. Right fielder Zack Thomas collided with centerfielder David Wright, allowing the bases to clear and the Eagles to go, 5-0.
- The Cougars got one back in the top of the fifth as Joe Baier led off with a double down the third-base line. He moved to third on a sac bunt and Russell drew a walk after Stevens got the second out looking. With runners on the corners, Russell took off on the pitch and senior catcher Stephen Sauter's throw was high, allowing Baier to score from third. Stevens forced a line out to center to stop any further damage.
- BC tacked on another run in the sixth on CSU's third error. Hernandez drew a walk and stole second and with two down, junior Johnny Adams hit one to right. Thomas dropped the fly ball, allowing Hernandez to score.
- Martellini drove in his second run of the game, scoring Cronin in the seventh, to make it a 7-1 game. Cronin walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. With one out, Martellini singled to right to bring in Cronin for a second time.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- BC starters have not allowed an earned run through the first five games
- Redshirt sophomore Bobby Skogsbergh threw a scoreless seventh. In his two outings since returning from a season-ending injury in March 2015, he has retired all six batters faced.
- Sophomore LHP Kevin Connor saw his first action of the year, retiring the side in order in the eighth with two strikeouts.
- Senior Logan Hoggarth saw his career-long hit streak come to an end after 11 games in which he tallied 13 hits, 13 runs and nine RBIs
