Boston College picked up its 14th victory of the season with a 67-64 victory over ACC foe Clemson behind 21 points from junior Kelly Hughes. BC is now 14-12 on the season.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Kelly Hughes was 6-for-14 from the floor and 5-for-9 from the three-point arc while leading the Eagles with seven rebounds.
- Freshman center Mariella Fasoula pitched in with 16 points and four boards while Emilee Daley and Kailey Edwards each had 10 points.
- BC opened up a 23-11 first quarter lead behind seven points from Emilee Daley and six from Mariella Fasoula. Daley scored seven straight in the quarter. BC shot 50 percent from the floor in the quarter while holding Clemson to 30 percent from the floor.
- The second quarter, Clemson outscored BC, 15-13, behind 13 points from Nelly Perry. Fasoula had four in the quarter while Kelly Hughes hit her second three to keep BC up by 10 points at the break – 36-26.
- An 8-3 run by Clemson to open the third quarter cut the Eagles lead, 39-34. In the run, Perry had four points, while BC had four turnovers and Fasoula picked up her third foul. The Tigers dug into the BC lead on a 10-2 run to end the quarter, BC 48, Clemson 46.
- The Eagles opened the quarter on a 7-0 run to go up, 55-46. Clemson responded with a 9-0 run to cut the lead to, 59-55, with five minutes left in the game.
- A layup by Sirah Diarra with 2:20 tied the game at 59-59, as Clemson held BC scoreless for two minutes. Hughes hit a three from the corner and BC went up, 62-59. After a foul shot by Clemson, BC had the ball with 53.8 to play. Edwards was fouled on a screen and hit two foul shots with 37.3 to play to give BC a 64-60 lead. After a layup by Perry, Hughes was fouled with 22 seconds left. Hughes hit one free throw and BC was up, 65-62. After a missed layup by Clemson, Katie Quandt grabbed the ball and hit one foul shot for a four point lead with 12.8 to play. A missed three by Perry resulted in another foul shot by Hughes and BC's 14th victory.
