BOSTON COLLEGE vs. NORTHEASTERN
Northeastern makes the return trip to The Heights for back-to-back Tuesday tilts on Dec. 6. In the first meeting of the season between Boston College and Northeastern, sophomore defenseman Michael Kim scored his second-career goal, first of the season in dramatic fashion. Kim stole the puck on the Huskies' power play in the waning moments of regulation and scored with 22.9 seconds left to send the Eagles to victory with the short-handed game-winning goal. Since losing to Northeastern in overtime on March 7, 2008 at Kelley Rink, Boston College has maintained home ice advantage and gone 8-0-2 over the Huskies on The Heights since. In all, the Eagles lead the Huskies 164-49-16 with a 77-30-11 advantage in Hockey East tilts. BC has dominated the series from the onset, winning 57 of the first 65 installments. Over the course of the last four seasons, Jerry York is 15-2-1 against Northeastern's Jim Madigan.
HOUNDING THE HUSKIES
Northeastern has been idle since the Eagles and Huskies had it out last Tuesday at Matthews Arena. Heading into last week's game, the Huskies touted three of college hockey's top 10 scorers, but that mark has since waned a bit. Zach Aston-Reese (11-12-23) and Dylan Sikura (9-14-23) are both tied with one another for eighth in the NCAA, averaging 1.53 points per game while Adam Gaudette (8-12-20) is tied for 20th with 1.33 points per trip. Aston-Reese is a top 10 goal scorer nationally, scoring at a rate of 0.73 goals per game, while five of them have come via the power play. The Huskies possess a fairly balanced attack as the offense is averaging 3.13 goals per game (24th in the NCAA) while the defense is limiting the opposition to 2.93 goals per game (28th in the NCAA). The power play is operating at a clip of 20.8 percent (15th) while the penalty kill has staved off 86.1 percent of its opponents' power plays (68-of-79 - 13th in the NCAA).
EVEN STEVENS
Boston College has produced some even scoring as 10 Eagles are in double figures in points while seven skaters have at least five goals through this point. The Eagles are now averaging just under four goals per game (3.67 gpg) on the season which is eighth best in all of college hockey and the most productive offensive unit in all of Hockey East.
MATTY MAKIN' MOVES
In BC's 4-3 setback against North Dakota on Dec. 3, Matthew Gaudreau extended his point streak to seven games after he scored his sixth goal of the season. Prior to Tuesday, Gaudreau accounted for his fifth multi-point performance of the season against Minnesota on Nov. 27 with a goal and an assist. Gaudreau's goal was of the short-handed variety, marking the first of his career. The Carneys Point, N.J. native also tallied a career-best seven shots on net. Through 18 games played, Gaudreau ranks 65th in the country in scoring, averaging 1.06 points per game and is tied for eighth in Hockey East. Gaudreau leads the Eagles in scoring (6-13-19) heading into Tuesday's game against Northeastern.
BENCHMARK SCORING
Only two other teams in college hockey have scored as many points as BC has this season. The Eagles are third in the NCAA in total points (187) and tied for second with 121 assists. The Eagles' 66 goals and +27 plus/minus are third best in college hockey. BC has also tallied the 13th-highest average of shots on net to this point, triggering 32.44 shot attempts per outing.
IN THE RED
The Eagles are outscoring their opponent at a significant margin and possess the sixth-highest mark in the NCAA. BC's + 1.28 goal differential is the best in Hockey East as the Eagles have netted 63 goals and given up only 39. The +27 mark is third best in the NCAA.
CONFERENCE CONFIDENCE

This stretch of noteworthy league play marks the longest BC has started off unbeaten in Hockey East since the 2003-04 season when Boston College wen 6-0-2 to open up the conference slate before Northeastern ended it on Jan. 3, 2004.
SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOW
Scott Savage not only recorded his first-career three-point performance in his 133rd-career game with the playmaker (three assists) against North Dakota, the San Clemente, Calif. native was also the game's highest point scorer. Savage is seventh on the team in scoring with 12 points (2-10-12).
EXTRA, EXTRA
Matthew Gaudreau scored Boston College's first extra attacker goal of the season when the Eagles lifted Joseph Woll out of net against North Dakota. Gaudreau scored with just over eight seconds to play.
SHORTY WHAT YOU WANT SHORTY WHAT YOU NEED
Kim's goal counts as BC's fifth short-handed tally of the season. BC is one of five teams in college hockey (Bentley, BU, Lake Superior State and St. Lawrence) to have accounted for that many goals on the penalty kill this season.
