Rowing Staff Welcomes Eight to The Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College rowing coaching staff announced on Thursday the signing of eight student-athletes who will enroll at The Heights in the fall of 2017 as they signed National Letters of Intent during the November signing period.

Rowing's signing class includes:

Olivia Bernardini (Wilton, Conn.)
Kimberly Burke (New York, N.Y.)
Caitlin Cornachhia (Rye, N.Y.)
Morgan Lamb (Philadelphia, Pa.)
Alexa Liqouri (McLean, Va.)
Shannon-Nicole LoStracco (Doylestown, Pa.)
Victoria Markow (Norwalk, Conn.)
Caitlin Trottier (Andover, Mass.)

"We are excited to work with these athletes over the next four years," associate head coach Amy Weatherby said. "This class has a great combination of team excellence, experience in small boats, leadership and enthusiasm. These athletes will be the core of an exceptionally strong BC Rowing Class of 2021."

Norwalk River Rowing Association | Wilton High School

Competed on the high school cross country team and was an all-county runner… Started rowing junior year and competed in the first varsity eight and first varsity four in novice spring season... Rowed in the varsity four at Head of the Charles, finishing 17^th overall… Chose BC for its distinguished academics, competitive athletics, location and its great school spirit.

Placed 25^th in Youth Four at the 2016 Head of the Charles… Has participated on the varsity squash team at Poly Prep since eighth grade… Plans to enroll in the Carroll School of Management… Chose BC for its outstanding academics and a competitive rowing program.

Competed at 2015 U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals… Attended the 2015 U.S. Junior National Team Women's Sweep Development camp located in New London, Conn… Chose BC for its sense of community and school spirit… Mentions the Head of The Charles as favorite regatta and looks forward to rowing on the Charles River.

Heads into third year as varsity eight member and named team captain… Earned City Championship Gold in 2014 and silver in 2015 and 2016 … Also earned silver at Stotesbury Cup Silver 2016... Placed 14^th at the 2016 Head of the Charles in the Youth Eight… Recipient of the variety of accolades including "Hammer" Award 2015, Frostbite Regatta Gold 2015, Silver 2016, Navy Day Regatta Gold 2016 and Head of the Christina Gold in 2014 and 2016… Member of the National Honors Society, Spanish Honor Society, Math Honor Society and Science Honor Society… Has spent four years as Student Council member and two year Spanish Club president.

Finished in 11^th place at SRAA championships 2016 and seventh place at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta 2016… Was a competitive gymnast for 10 years prior to transitioning to rowing… Member of National Honor Society and earned the Scholar Athlete Award 2016… Will enroll in the Lynch School of Education with plans to be an elementary school teacher.

Was a semi-finalist at the SRAA and Stotesbury Cup Regatta 2014… Placed second at Philadelphia City Championship 2015, Stotesbury Cup and SRAA semi-finalist 2015… Received Anne Marie Bonner Dedication Award in 2015… Finished second and third at Head of the Schuylkill 2015 and first Philadelphia City Championship 2015… Placed first at Mid Atlantic Youth Championship, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and the SRAA National Regatta in 2016… Also finished second at Navy Day Regatta, Head of the Schuylkill, Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta and Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta in 2016… Placed 10^th at Youth National Championship 2016 and competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta in 2016… Chose BC because of the academic rigor, spirited and highly-competitive team and concentration on the Jesuit tradition of service.

Finished second at Northeast Regionals in 2015 in the Women's Youth 4x… Also competed in the Youth Nationals in the 4x in 2015… Placed first at Head of the Riverfront in the Women's Youth 1x, third at Philly Youth in the Women's two and seventh at Club Nationals in the Women's Youth 4x in 2016... Also a member of National Honors Society, Latin National Honors Society and was the Frances Warde Community Service Award recipient… Chose BC for its competitive, fun atmosphere in academics and athletics and emphasis on success in a variety of areas.

Cambridge Boat Club | Andover High School

Finished sixth at Head of the Charles in the Youth 2x in 2016… Also placed fourth in the U19 Single at Head of the Quinobequin 2016… Also a member of the Varsity Ice Hockey since sophomore year…. Chose BC for connection she made with team and for the opportunity to continue to race on Charles and remain in Boston.
